Dr. Buringrud has been a Board Certified physician for 31 years, beginning his career in North County with Escondido OB-GYN Medical Group, Inc. for 28 years and expanding services into North County Women’s Specialists as the senior partner.

He obtained his medical degree from Texas Tech University and completed his residency at the Naval Regional Medical Center in Oakland, California in 1978.

He has been recognized as “Top Doctor” by San Diego Magazine (2004); “Physician of the Year” at Palomar Medical Center in Surgery (2004) and the Birth Center (2007) along with many other awards received for dedication to patients and staff.

He was elected Chief of Staff by the Medical Staff at Palomar Medical Center in 2002, and has twice served as Department Chairman for Obstetrics and GynecologyHe has also been Chairman of the Quality Management Committee and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee

Dr. Buringrud is currently the Chief Medical Quality Officer for the Palomar Pomerado Health District and is involved with building the new hospital due to open in 2012.  Professional affiliations include American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, San Diego County Medical Society, and American College of Physician Executives.

He is commonly referred to as “Dr. B” among his patients, staff, and medical personnel and respected by the medical community as a physician with integrity and composure.

Dr. Buringrud was born in Fargo, North Dakota and brings the values of a mid-west upbringing to those he serves.  He is married, and has four children and four grandchildren.  In his spare time he is an avid amateur photographer and genealogy devotee.

Leslee Siegel is a Certified Nurse Midwife and Women’s Healthcare Practitioner. She has her Masters of Nursing with an emphasis in Midwifery and Women’s Health from the University of Southern California. She has been credentialed by the American College of Nurse Midwifery. Her speciality is the care of Women thru the life cycle, caring for women from adolescence through menopause.

In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her granddaughters.

Dr. Cerrone is a Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist who obtained her medical degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - Kennedy Memorial Hospitals.

She is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as the San Diego County Medical Society.

Her interests within the field include: Normal and High Risk Obstetrics, Pelvic Organ Prolapse, Abnormal Bleeding and Menopause.

Dr. Cerrone has been in practice in the North County area for ten years and is a well-known member of the medical community. She is also the Medical Director of the Laborist Program at Palomar Hospital. She relates to women of all ages and looks forward to the challenge of each woman’s uniqueness.

Dr. Cerrone was born in Stony Brook, New York. When not working she likes to exercise and cook. One of Dr. Cerrone’s greatest joys is being a mother herself and spending time with family and friends.

Karen is a Nurse Practitioner certified in Women’s Health. She obtained her BSN from Texas Women’s University. After moving to California in 1987, she worked at Loma Linda University Medical Center for 13 years before returning to school to be a Nurse Practitioner. She obtained her MSN and Nurse Practitioner training through University of Phoenix in 1999.

Karen specialized in women’s health because she enjoys seeing women of all ages throughout the life cycle. She especially enjoys teen pregnancies, perimenopausal and postmenopausal women.

Her hobbies include hiking, gardening, music, Jazzercise and spending time with her husband, children and granddaughters.

Shawn Brooking is a Certified Nurse Midwife who obtained her nursing degree from Cal State University San Bernardino and completed her graduate work at the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing.

Shawn was a United State Navy Nurse at Camp Pendleton from 1994 – 1998 and worked as a labor and delivery nurse in a variety of hospital settings for twelve years prior to becoming a midwife.

Special Interests: She loves pregnancy. Shawn enjoys spending time with her patients, getting to know not just them, but their support system as well. She also enjoys working with women helping them determine the most appropriate method of birth control to fit their individual lifestyle and plans.

Shawn is the mother of a teen and has a special place in her heart for those first gyn visits. Her hobbies include exercise, reading and, most of all, spending time with her family.

Dr. Cizmar is Board Certified with the American Board of Ob­stetrics & Gynecology and relo­cated from Brawley, California where he had been in private practice. In addition to specializ­ing in Gynecology and Obstet­rics, he also sees patients regard­ing infertility, high risk obstet­rics, minimally invasive Gyne­cology, urogynecology and pel­vic reconstructive surgery.

He is a fellow with the American College of OB/GYN as well as American College of Sur­geons.  He is also professionally affiliated with  the American Medical Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.

His internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology was completed at Michigan State University, Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Dr. Cizmar lives in San Marcos and has one son.  He enjoys skiing, scuba diving, swimming, foreign languages and traveling.

Rachel Krochmal is a Nurse Practitioner/ Physican Assistant who graduated from UC Davis NP/PA Program and is nationally certified. She is a member of ASCCP and CAPA and has been a clinical preceptor for UC Davis NP/PA program for the last 8 years. Rachel is a Colposcopists and is on the subcommittee for Patient Education for the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.

Her interests within the field cover all aspects of women’s health care, including prenatal care, with special interest in abnormal pap smears, HPV, dysplasia, and vulvlar disorders.

Rachel has been in practice in the North County area for 16 years and is well known in the medical community.

Rachel was born in Escondido and currently resides in Escondido.   When not working she likes to travel, ski, scuba dive and snorkel with her husband and 3 children.

Dr. DiLauro was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and was raised in Santa Barbara, CA. She obtained her medical degree from Michigan State College of Human Medicine and completed her training at the University of New Mexico.

Her interests within the field include: Incontinence, Management of Pelvic Organ Prolapse, High Risk Obstetrics, Infertility, and Minimally Invasive Gynecology. She is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as the San Diego County Medical Society.

Dr. DiLauro enjoys the challenges of managing women through all important stages of life – from adolescence to menopause – and the later stages. She currently serves as an advisor and mentor to pre-medical students interested in Ob-Gyn.

Dr. DiLauro is married and has two daughters. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with family.

Dr. Kazanegra is an Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialist, fellowship trained in Advanced Gynecologic Laparoscopy at Stanford University Medical Center and Center for Special Minimally Invasive Surgery in Palo Alto. She completed her OB-Gyn residency training at Abington Memorial Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Kazanegra received her medical degree and Masters in Human Reproduction at the University of Belgrade, Serbia.

Dr. Kazanegra is dedicated to understanding her patients’ needs and helping them to make informed health decisions in order to achieve their health goals.

When not working, she likes to travel and spend time with her friends and family.

Dr. Josue Leon is a Board Certified Physician in Obstetrics and Gynecology. As your physician, Dr. Leon takes the time to answer your questions and treats you how he would like to be treated…with respect, compassion and a caring attitude.

Dr. Leon completed his medical degree from the University of Southern California Medical School. His residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology was completed at White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.

He is a native Spanish speaker, as he was born in Guatemala, Central America. Dr. Leon is married and some of his interests include grilling, wine tasting, biking, computers and traveling.
